Laser hair therapy (LHT) is one of the only FDA-approved treatments for hair loss. Also referred to as low level laser therapy (LLLT), LHT uses red light technology to deliver cold, soft laser emissions to the scalp. Doing this has the potential to help with hair loss.
How does laser hair therapy work?
LHT works to address hair loss at the cellular level. By delivering laser emissions to the scalp, LHT can help improve circulation and blood flow. This in turn can stimulate weakened follicles that would otherwise go dormant. Most people will experience decreased hair loss and they will notice their natural hair improving within 3 to 4 months after beginning LHT treatments.
Who is a good candidate for laser hair therapy?
Both men and women can benefit from LHT. In order to determine if LHT is right for you, we recommend coming in for a free consultation. We can evaluate your hair, learn more about your history and help you determine if LHT might help with your hair loss. In general LHT is best for someone in the early stages of hair loss. This is usually someone who is just starting to notice that their hair is thinning or someone that is experiencing significant shedding. LHT is also known to help individuals with illness related hair loss, postpartum hair loss and post-menopausal hair loss.
However, not everyone is going to be a good candidate. LHT can’t revive a dead hair follicle. So, if you are completely bald, or have bald areas, LHT might not be the best option for you. When this is the case, we have other solutions that can help you regain a full head of hair. Again, scheduling a consultation with us will help you determine which solutions is right for you.
